March-September 2011

My husband is in tech school at Keesler AFB. The base is nice but if you are a student/student spouse they do not provide very much help to get you started in the Air Force. They have the student offices for everything seperate from the prior service offices and I found it was always a run-around to get answers from anyone. The base is new since hurricane Katrina. The housing is new very spacious good open floor plans and is better than most military housing from what I have heard! The marina is a spectacular place to take your children or to have a BBQ! The base is two blocks from the ocean but the beaches closest to the base aren't the greatest! I would head to Pensacola or even closer to base is a town called Ocean Springs which has nicer beaches!

We are here (the kids and I) while my husband is in tech school. I really like the base itself. The BX and Commissary are both new and nice. The Marina on base is my absolute favorite place to go and relax with the kids. There is a really nice kids park at the marina with lots of swings and slides and such. And the best part about it is that it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s like completely shaded. And with the nice breeze from the Back Bay and the beach, it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s so nice and cool there. There are also lots of covered picnic table areas and a long, nice pier. There are LOTS of students on base. No problem though. Hmmm?¢‚Ǩ¬¶. I can?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t think of anything else right now, but I might add more later. Hope this helps a little at least.

April 2010: Keesler AFB opened a new commissary after Hurricane Katrina destroyed the old commissary in 2005. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=118387114841138
